What file do I send?

A PNG with a transparent background at 300 dpi, or an SVG, up to 40 MB. That covers almost every order. Here is what those words mean.

Which file types can I upload?

PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG show a preview in the studio. PDF, EPS, AI, PSD and TIFF upload too and appear on your proof. Everything up to 40 MB.

How many pixels do I need?

Multiply the print size in inches by 300. The two sizes most people print:

Bigger is fine. Smaller prints soft. An SVG skips all of this.

How big is the print area?

Up to 12" x 16" on tees and the crewneck, 11" x 10" on the hoodie front and 12" x 16" on the hoodie back, width by height. The studio shows it as a dashed box.

The hoodie front is shorter because of the pocket. Your design does not have to fill the box.

Why does the background need to be transparent?

The printer prints every pixel in the file, including white ones. A logo on a white background prints inside a white box. Export a PNG with the background removed and the shirt color shows through. If you see a white box in the studio preview, you will get one on the shirt.

Tips for the text tool

Text typed in the studio needs no file and prints sharp at any size.

Keep it bold

Use Bold Sans or Clean Sans on dark shirts. Thin strokes in light ink can fill in.

Mind the size

A chest logo reads best at three to five inches wide. A back slogan at eight to eleven.

One idea per side

Logo on the front, message on the back. Text and a logo on one side still count as one side.

Pick contrast

White on navy, black on sand. If you squint and it disappears, change one of them.

Names and numbers

Add one item per player with a different back text, or email us the roster after ordering and we add the numbers to the proof.

Check spelling twice

The proof is the last free chance. Read every word, including the URL.

The most common mistakes

These six cause almost every proof we send back with a note.

A low-resolution screenshot

Looks fine on screen, prints soft. Fix: get the original PNG or SVG, or print it small.

A JPG with a white box

JPG has no transparency. Fix: export a PNG with a transparent background.

Text that is too thin

Thin script fonts fill in or break up. Fix: use a bolder weight or make it larger.

Artwork outside the print area

Anything past the dashed box is cut off. Fix: scale it down to fit.

Wrong ink color for the shirt

Dark on dark or white on white vanishes. Fix: check the mockup on the real shirt color.

Fonts not outlined

Convert text to outlines before exporting an SVG or PDF, or the proof shows a fallback font. Fix: outline the text, or type it in the studio instead.

How does the proof help?

Within 24 hours a person looks at your file at print size and emails you a proof. If something is soft, boxed, too thin or outside the print area, the proof says so and suggests a fix. On orders of 24 or more it also names the ink colors. Changes are free until you approve.

What file types can I upload for my design?

How big can the print be?

Up to 12" x 16" on tees and sweatshirts. Hoodie fronts are 11" x 10" because of the pocket, and hoodie backs are 12" x 16". The dashed box in the studio is the print area.

What resolution does my artwork need to be?

300 dpi at print size. A full 12 by 16 inch front is 3,600 by 4,800 pixels. A 4 by 4 inch chest logo is 1,200 by 1,200. An SVG is sharp at any size.

Do I need a transparent background?

Yes, unless your design is a rectangle. A JPG prints a white box around a logo. Export a PNG with the background removed, or send an SVG.

Can I send an AI, EPS or PDF file?

Yes. Upload it in the studio like any other file. The studio cannot show a preview of PDF, EPS, AI, PSD and TIFF files, but they are attached to your order and your proof shows the real artwork.

What if my logo is low resolution?

The studio warns you when an image is too small to print sharp at the size you set. If you go ahead anyway, the proof says so within 24 hours and suggests a fix. Nothing prints until you approve.
